The Merchant Taylors' Company
The Merchant Taylors' Company is one of the Great Twelve Livery Companies of the City of London. Founded in the 13th Century as a religious and social fraternity, today the Company is an association of philanthropic and social character, devoting its energies to educational and charitable activities.
Set at the beating heart of the Square Mile, the company hosts events from award dinners to press conferences, fashion shows, barbecues and weddings. The building also has two floors of admin offices which provide working space for the staff and management.
When a project window presented itself, the company requested a solution that provided sufficient quantities of cabling in difficult to service areas and a cabling system that would provide an infrastructure for current and future network applications. A secure and reliable wireless access network was also required to offer internet connectivity to corporate clients. Acuity Solutions, a leading UK IT services company, enlisted the help of Connected Business Solutions to design, install and commission the new system over a four week programme.
Connected Business Solutions designed a Category 6 solution throughout the buildings floors, utilising optical fibre links to a remote cabinet to overcome the distances of some of the runs. Temporary Voice and Data links were installed to the existing IT Infrastructure to enable the building to be cabled and cut over in logical, phased areas which minimised disruption.
The heritage listed buildings high standard finishes presented an extremely difficult installation. Through careful planning and quality engineering, a certified Category 6 structured cabling system and secure wireless network was installed.
