Structured Cabling
Cat 5e
The most commonly found RJ45 cabling system within office spaces. Category 5e has been ratified since
2001 and replaced Category 5 to offer users a more price effective product to support Gigabit Ethernet
when Category 6 emerged onto markets.
Although it can provide an infrastructure for short Gigabit connections, we recommend Category 5e
systems are provided for traditional 10/100Mb installations.
Benefits
- Most cost effective form of structured cabling.
Disadvantages
- Nearing end of life span from hardware manufacturers.
- Offers no future proofing if investing in a new cabling system.
