Panasonic ZT65 – The Reference TV

The last of the great plasmas is here. As Panasonic phase out their plasma production, due to high costs, they’ve released one last stunning display. Beating even Pioneer’s legendary Kuro displays for contrast, colour accuracy and black levels. This is probably the best plasma display ever made.

Whilst not 4K this is a fantastic full HD 1080p display, and unless you’re watching some of the very limited 4K content (e.g. some YouTube videos and Netflix content), a native resolution is always going to look better for sources like Sky HD and Blu Ray Players.

Marantz SR7009 Receiver

Founded in New York in 1953, Marantz has been widely revered for many years by the audiophile community. Now based in Japan, Marantz continue to build top quality audio and video products with a distinctive design.

The SR7009 is Marantz’s new top of the line AV Receiver with nine amplifier channels each with 200W of pure power. With up to 11.2 channels (supporting Audyssey DSX, DTS Neo:X 11.10 and Dolby Atmos) this receiver is right on the cutting edge delivering the best 3D sound effects possible. Through the use of current feedback technology and the HDAM pre-amplification unit the SR7009 achieves a powerful punch but with distinct clarity.

It’s no slouch at video processing either. With 8 HDMI (4k/60Hz pass through / scaling) inputs and the two HDMI output sockets for the main room and a third dedicated for multiroom application, the SR7009 is a powerful central hub of your A/V system.

Monitor Platinum Speakers

Monitor Audio is a British company that has been designing high end loudspeakers for over 40 years.

Their Platinum range comprises their award-winning flagship products. Platinum uses radical new materials, processes and designs for driver and cabinet construction. The cabinets are finished in a choice of lustrous black piano lacquer, exotic Santos Rosewood and Ebony natural wood veneers. The front baffles are upholstered in leather and loaded with custom-developed drive units.

CASE STUDY: St. Georges Hill Property

The customer required full HD 1080p video to be distributed from four Sky HD boxes and a Movie Server to multiple rooms around this rather large property. Considerable time was spent planning the operation of the system and selecting the best pieces of equipment for the job. Once a plan of action was decided upon, additional necessary cabling was run in and existing cabling tested for feasibility and faults.

The main piece of hardware for this project was the Wyrestorm 8x16 HDMI Matrix. This enabled the Sky boxes and movie server to be distributed to up to 16 separate rooms whilst leaving 3 additional source inputs for future expandability.

The Wyrestorm matrix was installed in custom racking, which enabled good airflow for cooling and simple cable management. Along with the matrix, the racking also housed the Control processor, Network equipment, UPS’ (Uninterrupted Power Supply), Sky boxes and Movie server.
